This 1960 graduation badge is a very interesting piece. The large industrial city of Stalino in eastern Ukraine, known as Yuzovka prior to the revolution, was once again renamed in 1961 to become Donetsk. It was done as a part of the Khrushchev's "de-Stalinization" campaign that reached its peak at the time; the school's medical school was renamed accordingly Donetsk Medical Institute (it is open to this day, currently under the name of Donetsk National Medical University). The badge is thus one of the last to refer to the old, Stalin-inspired name of both the city and school.
