Russian Empire, Buckle for Army Enlisted Infantryman's Belt, circa 1890s - 1917.
In brass, measures approx. 53 mm x 80 mm.
In excellent condition, far better than the typical surviving examples. The raised points of the Romanov double-headed eagle show practically none of the usual wear. Note the exceptionally crisp details of St. George as well as the smaller provincial coats of arms; the fletching is intact on all of the eagle's feathers. The original gold tone is generally uniform, having only a minor amount of tarnish that adds character and interest. The belt bracket and hook on the reverse are completely intact and sound. Overall, an extremely well
