The inscription reads "1st Kirovograd Berlin Ground Attack Aviation Corps" and "Veteran of the Great Patriotic War 1941 - 1945." The city names Kirovograd and Berlin signify where the unit distinguished itself in combat, which were added to its name as an honorary title.
