In magnetic steel, silver plating, "hot baked" enamel; the round base is 27 mm wide. Two-piece construction: the enameled star with crossed rifles with bayonets is a separate piece. By design, it's only loosely attached to the round base of the badge; the star would be tightly affixed to the bottom part when the badge is properly attached to the hat.

Excellent condition. The enamel is perfect. The silver finish is very well preserved, shows only age toning plus minor amount of oxidation to the background steel that is not too noticeable. The attachment prongs are intact and fully functional. /Kutsenko, "Hat Badges", page 36 figure 7/.
