Award Document for the Medal for the Defense of Moscow, Series Ts #047378, issued on 28 November 1946 to Guards Lieutenant Vasiliy Salchenko (Василий Федорович Сальченко).
Measures 75 x 116 mm, slightly smaller than documents of earlier series. Note the printer's error characteristic of the relatively late issues: the motto "For Our Soviet Motherland" in red at the top of the first inside page is too close to the edge of the page. At the same time, the text and state emblem on the cover are aligned correctly. The internal pages show an ink stamp of the Military Commissariat of Poltava Region, Ukraine, and hand-signed by the commissariat's chief, a colonel (whose name is unclear.) Judging by the fact that the certificate was issued by a commissariat rather than a military unit, the recipient was probably out of active service by the time.
In outstanding, excellent condition - which is unusual for a Soviet campaign medal certificate from the 40s. There is no significant wear of any kind. Both the interior and exterior are almost immaculately clean, showing only a very mild age toning. This is a truly superb example of the Defense of Moscow document - condition-wise, impossible to upgrade.
