East Germany, Document for Bronze Medal for Faithful Service in NVA, the National People's Army, 1966.

Early-issue presentation folder measuring 6" x 8 ½" when closed, in oilcloth-bound hard cover with the name of the medal embossed in gold paint on the front cover. Inside, the left page of the award document shows a color image of the bronze medal. The award page states that, as a token of recognition of many years of faithful and conscientious fulfillment of duty, the Council of Ministers of the German Democratic Republic awards Sergeant Bernd Brauer with the Bronze Medal for Faithful Service in the National People's Army. The award is dated 7 October 1966 and bears a facsimile signature of the Minister of State Security Erich Mielke.

In excellent, outstanding condition showing only minimal storage wear to the back cover. The gold paint of the lettering on the front cover has lost some of its original luster but is 100% intact. The twisted cord in the colors of the German flag, holding the award document, is perfectly clean.

The medal (original name "Medaille für treue Dienste in der Nationalen Volksarmee") was instituted on 1 June 1956 in four grades: bronze for 5 years of service, silver for 10 years, gold for 15, and gold with colored flag and Roman numerals "XX" on the ribbon bar for 20 years of service. It was presented to members of the NVA and Stasi, as well as individuals who actively supported the NVA and Stasi.
