In wool bunting. Large size, measures 91" x 44" (approx. 7 2/3 x 3 2/3 feet). A sleeve of rough unbleached canvas holds the nylon rope for attaching the flag to a line on the mast. Flags of this type were made specifically for maritime use, the same exact design as used by the Soviet Navy. The lettering on the hoist sleeve shows a round factory quality control mark, identification CCCP ("USSR"), the state standard manufacturing code (ГОСТ), a 1990 year of manufacture, and the name of the factory, Vladimirskaya T.G.F.

Outstanding, excellent condition. The flag is completely free of the moth damage prevalent among the Soviet-era flags made of wool. There are a couple of small spots but the flag is otherwise perfectly clean and free of significant soiling; its colors are strong; and there are no snags or tears. A truly superb example of a large Soviet merchant fleet flag fit for an ocean-going vessel.
