Brass, enamels; measures 35.8 mm in height x 32.8 mm in width. The enamel is of superb quality. The figure of the border guard is in a high 3-d profile.

Excellent condition. The enamel is perfect and shows a beautiful luster. The screw post is full length, nearly 10 mm, and includes the original maker-marked screw plate. This piece was awarded to active-duty Bulgarian Border Guard officers, apparently along the same lines as similar Soviet KGB and Border Guard anniversary badges. For unknown reasons, the 1971 anniversary badge is both more impressive-looking and more scarce than the other issues.
