In German silver (Neusilber alloy) with silver plating; measures 37.1 in height incl. eyelet, 32.1 mm in width; weighs 16.7 g without the suspension and connecting link.

In excellent, near mint condition. The details on both sides are pristine and exceptionally crisp. The medal shows no wear visible to the naked eye and only a few microscopic contact marks that are hard to find even with a 10x loupe. There is a very attractive even patina throughout, especially on the obverse.

Comes on an original suspension in aluminum; the ribbon shows age and is likely original to the medal but at the same time, perfectly preserved and sound. The connecting link likewise appears to be original; its ends are still joined with solder. Overall, a superb example of the Soviet Border Guard Medal - practically impossible to upgrade.
