Excellent Torpedo Artificer badge, early to mid-1950s.
Brass, enamels; measures 46.0 x 36.6 mm; weighs 13.5 g without the screw plate. This is the last variation of the badge, "classic flat" according to B. Airapetyan's catalog.
In excellent, near mint condition. The enamel is literally pristine, completely free of even the microscopic contact marks that could be found under a 10x magnification. The details of the wreath, torpedo and naval mine are perfect and exceptionally crisp. The original gilt finish is extremely bright on both sides of the badge, free of blemishes or significant tarnish. The screw post is full length, over 10.5 mm, and includes an original screw plate maker-marked "Pobeda Factory, Moscow".
This piece is a truly superb example of the scarce Excellent Torpedoman badge from the early Cold War era - literally impossible to upgrade!
