Japan, Manchukuo Order of the Pillars of State, 3rd cl. Neck Badge with Neck Ribbon, 1936-1945.

Silver, gilt, enamels, pearls. Measures 69.2 mm in height, 62.8 mm in width; weighs 79.5 g. The inscription on the reverse reads "Order of Merit Decoration". Comes with the 22"-long adjustable-length neck ribbon with metal clasp. The ribbon is in red moiré silk with yellow edges,

In very fine condition. The red enamel of the octagonal center medallion has three tiny flakes; the blue enamel has two chips, small enough to be practically invisible to the naked eye. The yellow center has minuscule scratches, also invisible without magnification. The neck ribbon is perfectly clean and wear-free.

The Manchukuo Order of the Pillars of State was established by emperor Kang Teh of Manchuria on 14 December 1936 and is considered similar to the Japanese Order of the Sacred Treasure. The Order of the Pillars of State was abolished with the end of the empire in 1945.
