Porcelain Pitcher, by Riga Porcelain and Faience Factory, Latvian SSR, 1946-64.

Stands 6 ½" tall to the tip of the spout, capacity 600 ml. Sparsely and tastefully decorated in Latvian folk art style. Maker marked on the bottom (fig. # 618 in Volume One of Marks on Soviet Porcelain, Faience, and Majolica, 1917-1991 by Nasonova et al).

In very good to excellent condition, the only visible wear are two minuscule chips to the porcelain at the very bottom, not very obvious or detractive.

Artistically, the Riga Porcelain Factory roots in the rich 19th century traditions of the Kuznetsov and Jessen masters. The nationalized successors of both Kuznetsov Riga and Jessen Riga Porcelain Factories were merged in 1963 into the Riga Porcelain and Faience Factory, later renamed the Riga Porcelain Factory.

Please note that the teaspoon in our photo is for size reference.
