Badge of a Graduate of the Kaliningrad Technological Institute of the Ministry of Fishing Industry of the USSR, circa 1970s.

Nickel-plated brass, enamels; 53.3 x 26.6 mm. Three-piece construction: the merchant ship and silver plaque with the acronym of the school's name КТИ ("KTI") are separate superimposed parts. An attractive and well-made badge.

Excellent condition. The enamel and finish are perfect. The screw post is approx. 7.5 mm long which is probably its full length. The unmarked screw plate is of the period and appears to be original to the badge.

Established in 1930, initially in Moscow, the institute was the oldest of Soviet higher education establishments preparing engineering cadres specifically for the fishing fleet. In 1959, it relocated to Kaliningrad (formerly Koenigsberg). In 1994, after the breakup of the USSR, the school was renamed Kaliningrad State Technical University and remains open to this day.
