Pair of Porcelain Tea Cups, Special Moscow Olympics Edition, by Svetlovodsk Ceramics Factory, maker marked, 1980.
Rather diminutive in size, making them good for both tea and coffee service. The cups stand a little over 2" tall, 4" across at the lip, 2" across at the foot. Gilt artwork features the emblem of the 1980 Moscow Olympics and small cheerful stylized flowers. The entire surface of the handles is finished in gilt. Maker marked on the bottom (fig. # 420 in Volume One of Marks on Soviet Porcelain, Faience, and Majolica, 1917-1991 by Nasonova et al). Red color of the manufacturer's logo and "1-c" under it indicate top quality rating.
In excellent condition, showing only mild wear to the gilt at the bottom of the handles.
Please note that the teaspoon in our photo is for size reference.
