Badge of Coal Miner's Glory, 3rd class, Leningrad Mint version, circa late 1970s - early 1980s.

Brass, enamels, lacquer. The massive medallion measures 54.5 mm in height (incl. eyelet), 43.6 mm in width. Two-piece construction: the star is a separate, superimposed part attached by rivets. Shows the late-style Leningrad Mint logo "LMD" on the reverse, near the eyelet. This very large and imposing award is often incorrectly referred to as Order of Coal Miner's Glory.

In excellent condition. The enamel and lacquer are perfect. There is some tarnish to the star which adds character, but most of the fragile silver finish is present. A few minor oxidation spots on the reverse, not visually detractive. The rivets are tight.
