Badge of a Graduate of the Leningrad Makarov Higher Merchant Fleet Engineering School (LVIMU), 1961 issue.
Brass, nickel plating, enamels; 49.9 x 25.9 mm. Massive four-piece construction in high 3-d profile; the merchant ship, globe with the anchor, and the plaque with the acronym of the school's name ЛВИМУ ("LVIMU") are separate parts superimposed on the diamond-shaped base. Under the scroll is the 1961 year of graduation. The badge is of exceptionally high quality.
Excellent condition. The enamel is perfect. There is a slight wear to the nickel finish on the ship, which is not detractive; the raised details are perfect and crisp. All parts of the badge are tightly affixed. The screw post is full length, approx. 9.5 mm, and includes a period screw plate which may be original to the badge.
