Military ID of Private Matvey Dmitrieyev (Матвей Николаевич Дмитриев), Railroad Troops, issued 5 November 1922.
Measures 4" x 4 ¾", in gray oilcloth cover, with a much more elaborately designed front cover than later issues. The inscription on top is the Communist slogan of world domination "Proletarians of all countries, unite!" In the center, there is a large red Soviet Army star with the hammer and sickle, splitting the "USSR" down the middle. Below is the title reading "Service Book of a Red Army Serviceman." The title page records the serviceman's name and the military unit he was assigned to, in this case 3rd Company, 12th Separate Railroad Battalion. The next page has the serviceman's hand signature. The absence of any traces of glue in the photo placeholder proves that the ID photo which was supposed to be there, certified with a seal, had never been applied.
In excellent condition. There is minimal wear to the oilcloth of the cover, the internal pages are slightly wrinkled but very clean; all the printed and handwritten text are clear and perfectly legible. The binding staples are somewhat rusted but completely tight.
Please note that the penny in our photo is for size reference.
