ID of Mozhayskaya (Можайская), a Female Cross-country Skier, Participant of the 1938 SPARTAKIADA (sports tournament) in honor of the 20th anniversary of the Red Army, VChK-GPU-NKVD, and the 15th anniversary of the NKVD Sports Club Dinamo.

Measures 4 ¼" x 2 ¾", in two-tone hard cover bound in dark-blue cloth and light colored leather, with the logos of the Red Army and Dinamo embossed on the dark-blue part of the cover. The light-colored part of the cover shows the abbreviations for the Red Army, Navy, VChK, GPU, and NKVD on top and the phrase Jubilee Spartakiada 1938 underneath, all the lettering embossed in precise high relief. A most unusual design for an ID document.

The ID page is preceded by the photo of the Moscow Dinamo Stadium and three pages with photo portraits of Stalin, Voroshilov, and Yezhov next to their appropriate quotes about the need of the State, Army and NKVD to focus harder on preparation of physically fit cadres capable of repelling any and all enemies. The ID page was issued to a female skier Mozhayskaya, representing the Leningrad Military District in cross-country skiing competitions. Mozhayskaya's military rank is not stated. Either it was generally omitted in these IDs, or she was an officer's wife. It was common for officers' wives to participate in military sports tournaments. The last page at the end of the booklet has handwritten entries made by Mozhayskaya, recording her results in the 5K and 3K skiing competitions.

In very good condition. The leather of the covers shows minuscule dark spots around the raised lettering, probably cleanable, if desired. The blue leatherette part of the back cover has some dried glue and remnants of paper which stuck to it when separating the ID from whatever it was glued to. Inside, the free endpaper shows minimal foxing but all internal pages are completely clean and wear-free. The binding staples are somewhat rusty but are tight and strong.

Please note that the penny in out photo is for size reference.
