Citation to Comrade Ivanov, Political Officer at a Red Army Food Products Warehouse, 1935.

Single page 7" x 10 ½", front only. Decorated with photo portraits of Stalin and Voroshilov, with quotes from each of them. The citation was issued to Comrade Ivanov, Commissar (political officer) at a military food products warehouse, for "outstanding, exemplary work in the struggle for high quality of catering for the Red Army commanding officers and their families. The Central All-Army Catering Oversight Commission is confident that You will continue to improve the quality of catered food for the commanding officers, thus actively facilitating strengthening of the might of the RKKA." The citation is dated 19 February 1935, bears the seal of the Central Commission, and is hand-signed (top signature in red ink) by its Chairman Andrey Khrulyov, effectively Stalin's deputy for Red Army Rear.

In very good to excellent condition. The colors of the artwork, the seal, signatures and all the printed and handwritten text are bright and perfectly legible. The horizontal fold line at the center is reinforced on the verso. Two diagonal creases are completely flattened out and are not very obvious. A few small stains blend in rather well with the color of the paper and are not too intrusive to the eye.

Andrey Kryulyov (Андрей Васильевич Хрулев, 1892 - 1962), was a Soviet military and state leader, a specialist in organizing and directing the rear for maximally efficient supply of the army. During WW2 he distinguished himself as Commander of the Soviet Armed Forces, Rear, and was promoted to the rank of General of the Army (four-star general) for his decisiveness and ability to improvise to fulfill the main objective. He was also known for his efforts and initiatives to rehabilitate military leaders, victims of Stalin's purges of the 1930s. Some of his petitions were submitted even before Stalin's death.

Please note that the pen in our photo is for size reference.
