Medal for the Liberation of Warsaw, Variation 2, late 1940s.
Medal for the Liberation of Warsaw, Variation 2, late 1940s. This sub-variation of the Variation 2 features a rounded eyelet with flat edges rather than U-shaped eyelet.
In brass; measures 37.4 mm in height incl. eyelet, 32.4 mm wide; weighs 17.7 g not including the suspension and connecting link.
In outstanding, excellent condition. The medal shows no wear besides a couple of microscopic contact marks that are hard to find even under a 10x magnification. The raised details are perfect and crisp. The original "gilt" mint luster is nearly pristine and exceptionally bright showing only a minimal amount of attractive patina, free of blemishes or significant tarnish.
Comes on an original suspension device, a late 1940s model in brass. The ribbon is new. Overall, a truly superb example of Variation 2 medal, nearly impossible to upgrade.
