20th Anniversary of the Liberation of Ukraine from Fascist Invaders, Table Medal in bronze, in a special "deluxe" fitted issue case, 1964.
In bronze, 65 mm wide. An attractive piece showing onrushing Soviet T-34 tanks and tank-born infantry carrying a banner with Lenin's portrait. Ten years later, this artwork in slightly modified form was re-used on a medal for the 30th Anniversary of the Liberation; one major difference was that the latter featured a map of Ukraine with prominently visible Crimean Peninsula. Near the bottom edge are the names of the creators of the artwork, A. Oleynik, V. Fatalchuk and O. Yunak. The reverse has the inscription in Ukrainian "In Commemoration of the 20th Anniversary of the Liberation of Ukraine from the Fascist Invaders". The medal was struck at the Leningrad Mint. A total of 3156 specimens were produced. The issue case is in hard plastic with a fitted pad covered in blue velvet, and a tape in the colors of the Soviet Ukrainian flag for pulling the medal from its space.
The medal is in excellent condition. The raised details of artwork and lettering are perfect and crisp on both sides. There are no bumps, edge knocks or nicks. The issue case has part of the number 4 in "1964" missing, otherwise shows no significant wear.
