Table Medal In Commemoration of the 50th Anniversary of the USSR, 1972.
In sterling silver and enamel, 55 mm wide, 5 mm thick, weighs 92.4 g. The obverse shows the figure of Lenin in his trademark pose, with red Soviet flag underneath, and the legend "50 Years to the Union of the Soviet Socialist Republics" running along the edge. On the reverse, the centerpiece of the USSR State Emblem resting on laurel branches is ringed by the state seals of all the fifteen socialist republics. The rim shows the sterling silver hallmark "925" and the Leningrad Mint mark "LMD". The artwork is of amazing quality and precision of the minutest details, created by S. Pomansky and V. Nikitin. Circulation is unknown.
In very fine to excellent condition. Only one small dent to the rim makes us rate its quality as less than perfect. Attractive mild and even patina accents the relief of the sculpted artwork.
