Mongolia, Medal for Victory over Japan, Variation 2, #36841, late 1940s.
In gilded brass and enamels, stamped serial number to the reverse. Medallion measures 42.3 mm in height (incl. eyelet), 39.9 mm in width. This is the second, scarcer version of the medal featuring relatively flat reverse. Excellent quality.
In excellent condition. The gilt is beautifully preserved and bright on both sides of the medallion, having only a mild attractive toning, no blemishes or significant tarnish. The enamel is essentially perfect throughout, including the suspension, star and white Soembo emblem in the center - a very uncommon case. The screw post is full length, nearly 13 mm, and includes the original screw plate marked "Moscow Artists Cooperative".
