Officer's Leather Map Case, dated 1936.

Measures approx. 8¼" x 11". A solid, well-made piece in glossy brown leather. The interior is separated into two main compartments by an integral canvas divider; in addition, there is a smaller front pocket that holds a detachable compartment with holders for pencils, compass etc.; the latter piece is held in place by a push-button. The map case is expandable to hold numerous maps, notebooks and manuals; and includes leather belt loops on the back with carbine clip attachments for a shoulder sling. The fittings are in nickel-plated steel. There is a manufacturer's stamp on the inside front flop with a clearly legible 1936 date.

In very good to excellent condition. Shows only minimal wear and scuffs to the exterior that are neither too noticeable nor really detractive. The leather is still sound and "healthy", not overly dry, and exhibits a nice sheen. The internal compartments are perfectly clean. All the original metal hardware is present and has only a minor amount of oxidation which does not affect its overall appearance or functionality.

Overall, a very well-preserved and attractive map case that can be a nice addition to a Soviet WW2 officer's kit.
