M 1943 "Victory Parade" Dress Mundir Tunic of an Infantry Lieutenant, circa 1943-46.

In thick high- quality napped olive-green wool. Stand-up collar with crimson collar tabs and crimson piping on the collar, cuffs and tails. The spools on the cuffs are in gold metallic tress, as correct for combat personnel, single per cuff designating a junior commissioned officer rank. All of the buttons are unmarked, as correct for a WW2 issue. The shoulder boards are five-sided, pre-1947 type, in gold silk tress with a single crimson stripe and crimson piping.

The tunic is in Medium / Small size. The chest measures approximately 36", the sleeves (from cuff to shoulder seam) measure 24.5" and length from top of collar to bottom hem 28".

Excellent condition, extraordinary for a Soviet tunic of WW2 era. Unlike nearly all period uniforms made of wool fabric, there are no moth holes, nips or even significant tracks to the nap of the soft green fabric; the crimson piping is likewise completely intact and free of moth damage. There is one perforation in the right breast, clearly from the Order of the Red Star worn there by the original owner, judging by the imprint it left on both the outside and the liner. The left breast has traces left by pins of the medal suspensions.

The exterior of the tunic is perfectly clean with the exception of a couple of small and very faint discoloration spots that can be found only at very close inspection. While there are no visible perspiration stains on the liner, there is a slight smell of sweat, and the tunic would probably benefit from a dry cleaning. The shoulder boards have a couple of small scuffs to the gold silk fabric and some small moth bites to the piping, but are overall sound and presentable.

This style of uniform is often referred to as an officer's "Victory Parade" because it started to be widely worn in 1945 - even though it is, in fact, a 1943 regulations model. This attractive and very distinctive dress uniform can be a great way to display WW2 medals.

Please note: the leather belt is not included with the mundir but may be available separately in our WW2 Soviet Field Gear and Personal Items section.
