Silver, lacquer; measures 37.1 mm in height incl. eyelet, 32.2 mm in width; weighs 18.8 g not including the suspension and connecting link. Features U-shaped eyelet. The letters are covered with red lacquer, same as WW2 versions - as opposed to the more durable "hot-baked" enamel on the later issues of the medal.

In outstanding, excellent condition. The fragile red lacquer in the letters is perfect which is very uncommon, as it is usually at least partly or completely missing on the medals of the period. The medallion has only a few tiny contact marks that are either barely noticeable or completely invisible to the naked eye, no significant wear of any kind. The details of the artwork and lettering are very well-preserved and crisp.

The medal comes on an early post-war suspension, a single-layer model in brass. The ribbon is old but very nicely preserved and sound. The silver connecting link also appears to be original; its ends are still joined with solder in a seamless manner characteristic of the mint production.
