Photo of Two Tank Corps Sergeants, 1940-41.
Measures 5 ¼" x 3", printed on cardboard photo paper. In the photo, we see two young sergeants wearing tank corps insignia on their uniforms, possibly recent graduates from a tank school. The handwritten inscription on the verso, reading "City of Pushkin-3, Vasily Mihailovich Osipov", narrows it down to what became First Pushkin Tank School. In 1940 the Leningrad Military Auto Transport School was relocated to the city of Pushkin, Leningrad Region. In 1941, the school was evacuated to the city of Rybinsk, Yaroslavl Region.
The photo is in good condition. Most of the foxing it suffers from is fortunately contained to the margins, outside of the vignette with the image. The image is in sharp focus, providing an excellent opportunity to have a close look at the insignia and visor hats of the tankers. The inscription on the verso is bright and perfectly legible.
Please note that the penny in our photo is for size reference.
