In brass, 32.0 mm wide. In excellent, near mint condition. The medallion is free of any wear visible to the naked eye and has only a few tiny contact marks that can be found under a 10x magnification. The finish is bright and free of significant tarnish. The medal comes on original suspension with a well- preserved old ribbon.

The medal was issued in 1958 to army officers on active duty. Note that a portrait of Lenin is still there but Stalin's portrait has disappeared - just over a year after "Stalin cult of personality " denunciation by Khruschev.
