Porcelain Polka Dot Tea Service for Four Persons (11 pcs), by Dovbysh Factory, 1974 - 1991.

The set includes a tea pot, a sugar bowl, a confectionary vase (all with lids), and four cup-and-saucer pairs. The tea pot stands approx. 5 ¼" tall to the tip of the lid, about 4" wide at the shoulder and 2 ¼" across at the foot. The cups are 2 ¼" tall, 3 ¾" wide at the lip and 2" across at the foot. The saucers are approx. 5 ½" wide at the lip. The set features a simple cheerful polka-dot white-on-red design on the cups, pot and sugar bowl and vase, charmingly and uncommonly juxtaposed by the saucers' red-on-white polka dots.

Each item is maker marked on the bottom. This version of the Dovbysh Porcelain Factory, Ukraine, was in use from 1974 to 1991 (fig. # 209 in Volume One of Marks on Soviet Porcelain, Faience, and Majolica, 1917-1991 by Nasonova et al).

Overal, the set is in very good to excellent condition. There are a few occasional tiny chips to the glaze, and some manufacturing imperfections under the glaze. We included two photos of the worst "offenders". Wear to the gilt bands rimming the lips of the saucers is perhaps the most visible. None of the wear is intrusive to the eye or even very noticeable.

Please notice that the teaspoon in our photo is for size reference.
