Vodka or Liqueur Decanter with Glass Stopper, by Red Giant Glass Factory, circa 1950s-80s.

In clear glass with crushed green glass baked onto the surface of the clear glass. Accented by bands of gilt.

The decanter stands 7" tall to the top of the stopper, and holds 450 ml of liquid.

In excellent condition. Apart from minimal not easily noticeable wear to the gilt on the stopper, the decanter does not show any wear or damage visible to the naked eye.

The Red Giant Glass Factory has a long illustrious history going back to 1764 when Aleksey Bakhmetev, a retired military officer, acquired a permit from Empress Catherine II to open a crystal factory in his estate in the Penza province. During the Soviet era, the factory manufactured mostly military equipment (optics for rockets, tanks and submarines) but, like most such facilities, had "civilian" lines of products, such as this decanter, for example.

The factory stopped its production in 2008 and was sold, piece by piece. However, one of the workshops was bought out by a Moscow entrepreneur who organized production of high-quality crystalware in the traditional classic design.

Please note that the teaspoon in our photo is for size reference.
