Bust of Young Stalin in Bisque Porcelain, circa 1940s-early 50s.
Stands nearly 11" tall. The sculpture appears to be sculpted from one of the well-known early police photos of Stalin wearing a neck scarf under his jacket.
In very good to excellent condition. The bisque surface shows a faint stain on the left lapel of the jacket and several less conspicuous stains all over the surface but mostly at the right shoulder and its undercut. The bottom has various notations jotted in red and black pencil.
The bust is unsigned but was clearly made by an exceptionally talented sculptor. In our opinion, the most outstanding testament to the sculptor's talent are Stalin's eyes. The sculptor managed to give them the real-life wet look, visible from whatever angle or distance you view the sculpture.
This bust will make a unique addition to a collection of Soviet porcelain and Stalin Era in particular.
Please note that the medal in our photo is for size reference.
