Glory to the Great Stalin!, an offset print from 1950 painting by a team of three artists.
Measures 17" x 11 ¾", on semi-gloss heavy-stock paper. Made specifically for the 1950 All-Union Art Exhibition by a team of three artists, Y Kugach, V. Nechitailo, and V. Tsyplakov, the painting depicts Stalin as a deity among mortals worshiping him, a statue, a monument more than a human being. He is surrounded by the top echelon of the party and government officials (Beria, Molotov, Voroshilov among others), military leaders and heroes, labor heroes, scientists (ironically, S. Vavilov and T. Lysenko "met" here, both standing on the left behind the balustrade).
The print is in excellent, superb condition. As a supplement, it was not even stapled to the magazine, and has no staple holes in the fold line.
The Soviet Woman was founded by the Committee of Soviet Women in 1945 and was published, with different periodicity, until 1991. It was published in Russian and at least 11 other languages.
