Citation issued on 22 March 1943 to Nikolai Korshunov (Николай Васильевич Коршунов) for active work in Leningrad Air Defense formations.
In folder format measuring 8" x 11". The cover features a drawing of the Aleksandrinsky Theater on a snowy winter day. The back cover shows the years of that winter, 1942-43. The Aleksandrinsky Theater is one of the oldest drama theaters in Russia, the history of which goes back to mid-1700s. The building on the drawing, an early 19th century creation of architect Karl Rossi, was then, and remains now, one of the major historical and architectural landmarks of the city. So, it is quite appropriate to see it on a citation for excellent work in air defense during the blockade of Leningrad.
Inside, the citation is spread over both pages. It is issued by the Executive Committee of the Kuibyshev District of the city of Leningrad to Nikolai Korshunov (Николай Васильевич Коршунов). The citation is hand-signed by the Chairman of the Executive Committee and its Secretary.
Note the low serial number 14 of this citation.
In very good condition. There's moderate foxing to the paper as well as a small stain or two, and minor storage wear. The corner bumps are minimal, the wrinkle and a small rip near the center at the bottom are noticeable at close inspection but are not too intrusive to the eye overall.
