Honorable Discharge Certificate to a Soldier with the Soviet Army of Occupation in Germany, 20 November 1946.
Very large format, measuring 11 ½" x 15 ½". Decorated with symbols of the Soviet military might, Stalin's portrait on top next to a row of victory banners, and the Order of Glory in the center below.
The text of the certificate is not personalized but rather addressed generically to every soldier who was honorably discharged at that time. The command of the Soviet Army of Occupation in Germany acknowledges the hardships the discharged had endured during the war, commends their heroic performance and wishes them a happy return to their families and to resume productive work in accomplishing the goals of Stalin's new Five-Year Plan.
The certificate bears the seal of Military Unit 55307. According to our research, at that time this was the 63rd Tank Regiment of the 10th Guards Tank Division.
The certificate is signed with the names of Commander of the Soviet Army of Occupation in Germany, General of the Army Sokolovskiy, and member of the military council of the Group of Soviet Occupational Forces in Germany Lt. Gen. Makarov.
In very good to excellent condition. Minimal wear to the edges and corners does not reach the artwork or the text. Some of the fold lines show beginnings of a separation which can be quickly and easily repaired with tape on the verso, if desired.
