Wall Plate with Bas-Relief of Lenin-Stalin Mausoleum, circa mid-1950s.
In copper-plated aluminum, measures 7" across. The centerpiece is a highly detailed 3D bas-relief of the Mausoleum in Moscow's Red Square with "Lenin-Stalin" above the entrance. Includes an integrated hanging loop for wall mounting.
In excellent condition. The copper plating is intact, showing only a faint x-shaped scratch above the mausoleum and minor scuffing on the verso.
The sarcophagus with Stalin's body remained in Lenin's tomb from 1953 until 31 October 1961 when KGB secretly removed it and buried in a grave at the Kremlin wall, dug out for that purpose shortly beforehand.
Please note that the penny in our photo is for size reference.
