A flyer with the text of Stalin's address to the nation announcing the Great Patriotic War and denying all responsibility for his actions leading to it. 3 July 1941.

Four pages measuring 8" x 10". Published by the State Publishers of Political Literature, circulation 500,000 copies. The urgency of the need to deliver the speech to the nation is seen in the dates at the bottom of the last page. Stalin's speech was made over the radio, signed for publication and published on the same day, 3 July. It took Stalin almost two weeks to overcome his paralysis and fear for his life, to come out of hiding and resume his role as head of state.

In very good to excellent condition. The flyer shows moderate wear in slightly frayed edges, mild to moderate soiling and foxing, and beginning of separations along the fold lines. However, the text is bright, perfectly legible, practically unaffected by the wear in terms of its readability. Actually, the wear does a fine job of enhancing the sense of age, authenticity, and the dark somber mood of that moment in the history of the country.

It will make a fantastic centerpiece of a collector's Early WW2 display!

Please note that the pen in our photo is for size reference.
