Mosin-Nagant Rifle Accessory / Cleaning Kit Pouch in Winter Camouflage, dated November 1941.
In white canvas. The inside shows a Leningrad maker stamp and quality control stamp with a clearly legible X-41 date of manufacture. The button, which appears to be original to the pouch, is either a UK or US import, marked "For Gentlemen"; it was apparently taken from available civilian stores as a wartime expediency.
Excellent unissued condition. Nice, rare winter camo specimen. Note that it was made in the blockaded Leningrad at the worst period of the siege. In November 1941, the tenuous "Road of Life" supply route over the frozen Lake Ladoga was only starting to work. At that point, Leningrad was practically out of food supplies and its civilians were dying by the thousands from hunger and cold. Yet, the city's factories were still running and producing supplies for the front.
