Achievement Certificate issued to G. Bova (Г. Бова), an employee or student of the Leningrad Institute of Physical Culture, 1940.

Single page in large format, 9" x 12 ½". The certificate is richly decorated in the traditional red-and-gold palette, but showing elements of constructivism in the ornaments, by that time almost completely squeezed out by the state-approved socialist realism. The ornament is anchored by the image of the Ready for Labor and Defense badge, 2nd (the highest) level at the top left-hand corner.

The certificate is awarded for high academic achievements and participation in social activities., signed by the institute's director.

The logo of the institute above the certificate proudly displays the Order of Lenin above the abbreviation, and the same motto we see in the badge, "Ready for Labor and Defense". This is a perfect indicator of the focus of the institute's work: to prepare a population physically fit for military service. Not so different from Hitler's Germany at that time.

In very good condition. The paper is lightly age-toned, more so along the edges than in the middle of the sheet. The right-hand edge is a bit wrinkled, showing a small rip at the top corner and a crease at the tip of the bottom corner. All the decorative graphics and lettering, as well as the handwritten text, seal and signature are perfectly clear and sharp.

Please note that the pen in our photo is for size reference.
