Medal for the Liberation of Belgrade, Variation 1, circa 1945-1947 issue.
In brass; 32.2 mm wide; weighs 17.3 g without suspension and connecting link.
In outstanding, excellent condition - the best example we've offered in recent years. Both sides of the medallion are completely free of any wear visible to the naked eye, having only a few microscopic contract marks that are not easy to find even under a 10x magnification. The raised details are perfect and exceptionally crisp. There is a very attractive mild toning to the brass, while most of the original "gilt" mint luster is intact and very bright throughout.
The medal comes on an original suspension, a WW2 two-layer model in steel with self-locking pin. The old, possibly original ribbon is extremely well-preserved and attractive, adding a great amount of character. To summarize, this is a truly superb example of one of the hardest to find Soviet WW2 campaign medals.
