Poster of Stalin We stand for peace, and we defend the cause of peace!, artist signed, 1949.

Very large format, measuring approx. 46" x 27". Published by the ART State Publishing House in the year of Stalin's 70th birthday. The artists' names, B. Berezovskiy and I. Shagin, are printed in the lower left-hand corner under the image. The artwork depicts Stalin with his hand raised and his gun finger aimed at the whole world, with the warning We stand for peace, and we defend the cause of peace! soaring above his head. The phrase belongs to Stalin and graced many a poster published shortly after the war. Coming from a man who had just annexed the entire Eastern Europe to his empire, the phrase is worthy of George Orwell in its well-honed doublespeak. Intentionally or not, the artists conveyed this in the expression of Stalin's eyes, the eyes of a cat who had just eaten a very big juicy canary.

In very good to excellent condition. The colors are bright and vibrant, there are no significant rips at the edges. A few wrinkles to the paper going down the middle of the poster are practically lost in its rich red color and large size of the poster. We have shown one such wrinkle next to a close-up photo of Stalin's head, just to show one. However, these wrinkles are not easy to see when looking at the poster as a whole.

Please note that the foot-long ruler in our last photo is for size reference.

Please note that the poster will be shipped rolled and packaged in a sturdy cardboard tube.
