Soviet Porcelain, 1930-1980; Price Catalogue by S Beloglazov, 2009 edition.
Large format, measures 8 ½" x 11 ¾", 260 pp., over 1,000 color photos. Laminated hard cover, the textblock is printed on heavy-stock coated semi-gloss paper. Published by ArtEgo, St. Petersburg. Only 1,000 copies were printed, very scarce! This is a new and much improved version of the catalog Soviet Porcelain, 1940-1970. Guide for Beginning Collector which has already become a bibliographic rarity. The new catalog contains far more information and is literally packed with photos. Of course, the fact that it includes current prices in Russia (as of 2009 when the book was published) and English captions makes it an invaluable tool for collectors around the world.
The book comprises several sections dedicated to the most famous manufacturers in Russia - such as LFZ, Dulevo, Gzhel and others - as well as several larger porcelain makers in Ukraine, Belorussia and other former Soviet republics. Each larger part is conveniently organized into several sections covering animal figurines, human statuettes, vases etc.
The book is in very good to excellent condition. The front cover has acquired a bump to the top edge and minuscule corner bumps. The textblock appears to have been exposed to a minor amount of moisture at some point, leaving a barely discernible wavy warp to the top of the pages. A faint small smudge to the top edge completes the list of wear. None of the wear impacts the photos or captions and is negligibly minor against the large format of the book.
