Bulgaria, Order of the Red Banner, circa 1970s.
In gold-plated brass and "hot-baked" enamels; the medallion measures 47.2 mm in height (incl. eyelet), 34.9 mm in width; weighs 40.6 g not including the suspension and connecting link. A very attractive massive piece. Shows a Bulgarian Army soldier in a bayonet charge, large red banner at the top with writing "For Socialist Motherland". Gold laurel branches on the sides and white plaque with Cyrillic abbreviation НРБ for "Peoples Republic of Bulgaria" at the bottom.
In excellent condition. The enamel is perfect and shows a nice luster. The gilt finish is very bright on both sides. Comes on original suspension, a two-layer model in aluminum. The old, almost certainly original ribbon shows wear near the top but is still sound, clean and overall presentable, adding a lot of character to the award.
