Large massive cast-iron serving tray with singing birds & musical instruments artwork, by Kasli, dated 1984.

Measures approx. 15" x 12 ½", only 1 ½" in height. Weighs close to 4 ½ lbs. Multi-part construction, with 4 legs affixed to the body of the tray with screws. The centerpiece is solid metal, with high-relief artwork featuring 5 birds singing in a tree and several musical instruments lying underneath. The centerpiece is framed in a roughly 2"-wide ornamental "brim" with two handles extending the otherwise round format in length.

In excellent condition. There is no significant oxidation, nicks or dents anywhere. The coating is intact except for a spot on the head of the right-most bird where it has partially rubbed off and a short scratch at the bottom of the centerpiece where the coating has been removed. All the 4 legs are firmly attached, the screws are tight and strong and there is no wobble to the legs whatsoever.

Kasli was, and remains, one of the finest manufacturers of cast decorative works in Russia and survived from Imperial times through the Soviet Era to today. The Kasli Factory of Architectural and Artistic Casting, as it is now called, is located in the city of Kasli, Chelyabinsk Region in the Urals Region of Russian Federation.
