Demitasse cup Lenin is Forever Alive, by Baranovka Porcelain Factory, Ukraine, 1970.

Appropriately miniature, the cup stands just a little over 2" tall, 1 ½" wide. This cup was made in commemoration of Lenin's centennial in 1970, hence the motto of the Communist religion, in gold against bright-red background, "ЛЕНIН Завжди ЖИВИЙ" in Ukrainian language ("Lenin is Forever Alive"). The golden band running around the cup shows the dates of the centennial jubilee, 1870 - 1970. Maker marked on the bottom. This version of the logo of the Baranovka Porcelain Factory was in use from 1962 to 1973 (fig. # 46 in Volume One of Marks on Soviet Porcelain, Faience, and Majolica, 1917-1991 by Nasonova et al).

In very good to excellent condition. The only post-production wear is showing only on the gilded band, very minor and not really detractive.

Baranovka Porcelain Factory was founded in 1802 when brothers Mezer purchased a plot of land on the outskirts of the town of Baranovka, (currently in Zhitomir Region) with the purpose of building a porcelain manufacturing facility. After 1917, the factory was nationalized and grew considerably in the volume and assortment of manufactured items, focusing mostly on utilitarian household items such as plates, cups, etc., but also produced decorative and presentation items such as figurines, wall plates, etc. In the post-Soviet times, the factory was purchased by a Czech company. Following supply problems caused accruing a lot of debt leading to bankruptcy and closure of the factory in 2013.
