Civil Aviation Badge for Flying Safely 500,000 km, #10099, 1960-1973 issue.
Brass, enamels; measures 38.5 mm in height x 41.1 mm in width. The center disc with the airplane and the Aeroflot emblem at the top are separate, superimposed parts held by wires. An extremely well-made and attractive piece.
Very fine to excellent condition. The red enamel on the plaque is perfect. The exposed blue enamel on the flags is largely intact; only the small segment on the extreme lower right has surface flaking barely noticeable to the naked eye. There are no penetrating chips, repairs or significant rubbing; the enamel fully retains its beautiful original luster. The details of the globe, airplane, wreath, and GVF emblem are perfect and crisp; the center medallion exhibits attractive even patina, no blemishes or oxidation spots.
On the reverse, most of the original gilt finish is still present. The attachment wires are intact and sound. The screw post is full length, nearly 10 mm, and includes an original period screw plate with the Moscow Mint logo.
