European Classics, Vol.
II, Lord Byron ("Европейскiе Классики", Байронъ) 1912 edition, Library of World Literature.

Measures 9 ¼" x 6 ¾", 312 pp., hardcover, Russian text, published by the A. Levenson Publishing Company, Moscow. Contains 12 drawings embedded in the text and 8 illustrations on separate pages. Printed in pre-reform Russian orthography containing currently obsolete letters. In this volume we find Russian translations of Byron's Don Juan, Manfred and Cain, each with a preface or commentary.

In fair to good condition. The edges and corners of the cover boards are somewhat deteriorated, crumbled off. The hinges of the free endpapers show partial separations. The binding is still strong and tight, and the textblock is firmly attached. The paper of the textblock is high- quality and still quite supple, showing mostly only mild to moderate age toning along the edges.

George Gordon Byron (1788 - 1824), the 6th baron of the Byron family, was one of the leading figures of Romanticism, an artistic style which appeared and grew in Europe at the end of the 18th century. His most widely known creations are Don Juan, Childe Harold's Pilgrimage and many shorter poems.
