Marshal Voroshilov During Military Exercise, an offset color plate circa 1940s-50s, reproduction from a 1938 painting by Pyotr Pokarzhevskiy.

Print size 9 ¾" x 8". Total size with the frame 13 ¾" x 10 ½". Printed on thin but fine quality semi-gloss paper and affixed by a spot of glue at the top right corner to a thin cardboard backing inside a printed frame. The title of the painting and name of the artist are printed under the color plate on the right. The artist's handwritten signature and year of painting is visible in the lower left corner of the print.

The print is in excellent condition. No damage if we don't count a microscopic crease at the bottom right corner. The backing cardboard is in good condition showing just minor wear at the corners and along the edges. The top edge of the backing show a bit of discoloration on the right side.. Overall, none of the wear is close to the color plate and is not detracting.

Kliment Voroshilov was a close friend of Stalin's (in as much as Stalin was capable of friendship) and one of the first Marshals of the Soviet Union.

The artist, Pyotr Pokarzhevskiy, began his artistic education during the last years of the Imperial Russia. His fame however was that of a Soviet painter working in the only style of visual arts approved by Communist ideology, Socialist Realism.

Please note that the pen in our photo is for size reference.
