Gzhel Pottery 18th to 20th Centuries, a study of the history of the unique tradition of folk ceramics art rooted in ancient Russian pottery techniques.
Large format, measures 10 ½" x 8 ½", 216 pp., nearly 200 illustrations, mostly high resolution color photos; hardcover with a dust jacket. Russian text. Printed on heavy-stock coated matte paper. Published by the RSFSR Artist Publishers, Leningrad. Circulation 20,000.
The album itself is in excellent condition. The cover is free of any wear or damage, the internal pages are pristine. The dust jacket has taken the entire brunt of the years gone by but is still very much presentable and functional: it has minor rips and wear at the top and bottom of the spine and along the edges and the back cover has an internal tear which can be easily repaired with archival or other tape.
This album is a serious historical study of Gzhel ceramics undertaken by two historians specializing in Russian folk arts and crafts and specifically, ceramics. Short info on both of them is on the last page.
