Badge in Commemoration of the 25th Anniversary of Victory over Germany, 1972 "re-edition".

Aluminum, paint. Shows Russian soldier with a rifle, holding red flag and stepping on Nazi German eagle emblem. This variation is similar to most other versions of the 25th anniversary badge with one exception: it has a "1972" date in raised numerals on the reverse. The badge was made a couple of years after the anniversary as a "catch-up" award to those veterans who were eligible for the award but for some reason had not received it. The "reedition" was apparently commissioned once the original stock of badges had run out. The reverse of the badge also shows a raised logo of the Shakhtmetal Factory in the town of Shakhty, Rostov Region.

Issued to all surviving veterans of WW 2. Although this is a badge rather than a medal by the Soviet classification, this award had a significance of a jubilee medal. /Borisov, Badges of the Soviet Armed Forces, fig. 149/
