Table Medal in Commemoration of the 60th Anniversary of the Communist Youth League of Azerbaijan, 1980s issue.
In bronze and "cold" enamel; measures 64.9 mm in width; weighs 139.0 g. The obverse shows a VLKSM membership badge, figures representing young workers of Azerbaijan, and inscription in Azeri language "Azerbaijan LKKI [Lenin Communist Youth League]". There are raised dates "1920 - 1980" on the reverse and a late-style stamped logo of the Leningrad Mint along with a "1980" year of manufacture. The use of enamel on the lettering and VLKSM badge is an uncommon element for a table medal produced by the mint.
This medal by the Moscow Mint had a rather limited circulation of only 1500 pc. The artwork was created by A. Rustamov, an Azerbaijanian national (perhaps a manifestation of Soviet-style "affirmative action" characteristic of the Soviet Union in its terminal decline.)
Excellent condition. The details of the artwork show no wear; the enamel is perfect. The bronze exhibits attractive dark patina with just a couple of tiny spots that are not detractive.
